Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Wednesday to celebrate the start of Bright by Text.

LaunchPad announced Wednesday they are partnering with Early Childhood Alliance to help bring awareness about Bright by Text.

“We’re very excited to partner with LaunchPad. Bright by Text are tips and resources that go directly to a family’s phone. It could be a parent, grandparent, aunt or uncle, anyone caring for children, expecting children all the way up to age 8,” said Shannon Gage, chief community relations officer, Early Childhood Alliance.

“It’s in English and Spanish. And not only does it provide developmental tips and resources, but it also connects them to the community by providing information about events or opportunities available to them,” Gage said.

She said Early Childhood Alliance is excited to get Bright by Text into the hands of families and to support them in their journey as a parent.

Bright by Text is free and delivers things like educational games and age-appropriate learning resources to help guide the development of children, according to a news release from Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce.

LaunchPad Director Sherry Searles said the person can get age-specific information based on the age of the person’s child or grandchild.

“Also, we’ll begin feeding information into a system where they will find out, oh, this is happening at the YMCA in Kosciusko County or this is happening at the Parks Department. Here is some activities you can be a part of us. So, we’re thankful to have that in our community,” Searles said.

The texting service was made possible by local support from the PNC Foundation and Ambassador Enterprises. Families will qualify for free text messages no matter their income level. The service is available to child care providers, foster parents and extended family and friends as well, stated the release.

To sign up, parents and caregivers with children younger than 5 can text “Child” to 274448. They will receive two to four messages per week, with each message including a link to a landing page with more details, short modeling videos and links to related resources, stated the release.
