Jerry E. Denny, 80, of Claypool, passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at his home.

He was born on Oct. 7, 1940, in Claypool, to Richard and Roberta E. Elder Denny.

He was a lifetime Claypool resident and graduated from Claypool High School. He married the love of his life, Alberta Ellen Pontius, on May 23, 1961, in Wise, Va., and she preceded him on June 7, 2012.

He was a farm boy and helped his grandpa on the dairy farm. He started his career picking up milk from the local farms. He formerly drove for Metzger Trucking, Woody Everly and retired driving truck after 50+ years.

He is survived by daughter, Shanna (Tony) Baker, of Warsaw; son, Shane (Laurie Bowyer) Denny, of Akron; six grandchildren: Stacy (Jason) Joye, Sherise (Derrick) Deardorff, Shane Denny II, Chelsae Culp, Cassi Baker and Jacob Baker; six great-grandchildren: Ella, Jameson, Silas, Grant, Nolan, Mila; two sisters: Sandra Nelson, of Elkhart; and Peg (Dave) Fitzpatrick, of Claypool; sister-in-law, Deanie Allen, of Warsaw.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Alan Lynn Denny; and two sisters: Beverly Denny and Nancy Barrett.

No services are planned. Private burial will take place in the Claypool Cemetery. Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. Ind. 15, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
