The restaurant at 114 N. Buffalo St., Warsaw, also offers lunch items like hamburgers, chicken strips and tenderloins.
Friday afternoon, the Kosciusko Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Buzz on Buffalo with owner Jennifer Wolfe.
She bought the business, formerly known as BMac’s, from Brian McClelland in August.
“I wanted to own a restaurant,” Wolfe said.
Even though the name changed, the food hasn’t. “It’s still the same diner fare. Breakfast, burgers, sandwiches, salads, soups, homemade pie,” she said. Wolfe worked at BMac’s for five years before taking ownership of it.
The diner is open six days a week, from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
While business has been slow since August because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Wolfe said she still sees many of the regular customers.
McClelland said he was glad someone took over the business and kept it the same style of business.
“We have enough other styles of restaurants. We really don’t have a breakfast place downtown here, and I’m glad to have her take it over and keep it the same type of business as far as the clientele and not really change anything. You don’t really want to change anything that’s working. If it works, keep going with it,” he said.
McClelland said he had been looking for an exit strategy from the restaurant for a few years and when the opportunity presented itself, he took advantage of it. He owned BMac’s for 13 years, though he said his original plan was 10.
“I’ll be supportive for her. If she needs (anything), she knows she can call me anytime. I’ve helped her get the place open and got her in contact with all the vendors and all the suppliers. Everything from the start of a business to the end of a business type of thing to get it up and running,” he said. “I’m happy for her. I think she’ll do a good job.”
McClelland also said, “We need some community support, not just her but all the local businesses. We need community support because that’s what keeps a community alive.”
Buzz on Buffalo has a staff of five. It offers carry-out and delivery. The phone number is 574-267-2622 and the diner has a Facebook page.
