By Staff Report-

NIPSCO began work Monday to replace and upgrade existing portions of the above-ground electric utility pole and line distribution in the city of Warsaw, according to a news release from NIPSCO.

This modernization project is part of a larger electric upgrade benefiting Kosciusko County to upgrade 561 utility poles and 24 miles of distribution line. System modernization projects offer many benefits to customers, including safer and more reliable electric service by eliminating recurring system outages as well as supporting future business expansion in northern Indiana, the news release states.

The majority of this work will take place on portions of Poor Road, Ind. 15, East Canal Street, Main Street, Columbia Street, Center Street and Walnut Creek. Crews will be working in off-road utility easements in the area. As a result of this work, to ensure the safety of local residents and on-site crews, road and lane closures are expected.

Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and is expected to last until May, weather permitting. Robert Henry Corporation, an approved NIPSCO contractor, is performing the planned work.

Detour routes and signage will be posted ahead of time, and flaggers will be on-site directing traffic during construction hours. Motorists are asked to exercise extra caution when traveling near marked construction zones, slow down and follow the direction of crew and posted signs.
