Roger was born June 1, 1932, in Plymouth, to Brook and Pearl Seybold Bower. He was united in marriage to Jane Ann Schipper Bower on Dec. 20, 1959, in Plymouth, who passed away June 20, 2017.
He was a resident of Warsaw for 56 years and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Warsaw. Roger proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1952 to 1955 GMM3 (Gunners Mate Missiles) on the USS Rockbridge (Attack Transport) during the Korean Conflict. After graduating from high school, he continued his education at Ball State Teachers College from 1956 to 1960 obtaining his Bachelor of Arts degree in education and in 1966 obtained his master’s degree. Roger was a high school teacher at Warsaw Community Schools retiring in 1992 with 32 years of service.
Roger is survived by a daughter, Beth (Karl) Keller, Valparaiso; son, Mark Bower, Ph.D., and his wife Regina Bower M.D., Fort Collins, Colo.; four granddaughters: Abigail (Jordan) Garber, Indianapolis; Rachel Keller, Milwaukee, Wis.; Brooke Bower, Fort Collins, Colo.; Daphne Bower, Fort Collins, Colo.; and several nephews, nieces and extended family members.
He is preceded in death by wife, Jane Bower.
A private funeral service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Warsaw, with Pastor Martin Keller officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors rendered by Warsaw American Legion Post #49 and VFW Post 1126.
