June Lorna Ladd
By -
She was born on June 29, 1933, in the coastal town of Felixstowe, Suffolk, England. June was the only child born to Lorna Maxwell Stuart Minns and Robert Eric Minns.
At the age of 7, both June and her mother were evacuated to the west coast of England to keep safe from the German Blitz during World War II. June entered into nursing school at the Ipswich-East Suffolk Hospital and graduated in December of 1954. In March of 1955, leaving her parents and homeland behind, June boarded the Queen Mary ocean liner to move to the United States. June became a U.S. citizen in August 1969. She worked at Murphy Medical Center in Warsaw as the head nurse on the surgical floor and then transferred to Kosciusko Community Hospital (KCH) where she managed the surgery department. She was affectionately known to everyone at KCH as “Mother.” June retired after 50 years of nursing at the age of 72. June always had a smile on her face and will forever be remembered as a loving mother and friend to many.
She leaves behind her two daughters: Lorna Ladd, Winona Lake; and Michelle Ladd, Warsaw. She was preceded in death by her parents.
June’s life was celebrated everyday and she left her footprint on the hearts of many people who came to know and love her.
No services are planned, and arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
