Warsaw Buses Delayed Wednesday Afternoon

A Warsaw Community Schools bus transporting students home from Claypool Elementary was one of a few school buses that ran late Wednesday.

At approximately 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, WCS posted to its Twitter account that buses were running late.

In a telephone call, Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert said a couple bus routes were combined Wednesday due to absentee drivers. Hoffert said he didn’t know how late those students were running late.

The bus from Claypool Elementary was a different issue, though. Hoffert said in that instance, the bus got stuck in a tight turn on Clay Street in Claypool. The students had to be taken off the bus and put on another one. By approximately 6 p.m., Hoffert said all the kids from the bus route were home safe.

When asked if buses running late was going to be a continuing issue, Hoffert said no. However, he did say that buses could be delayed due to issues such as weather-related issues or absentee drivers. Hoffert said the school corporation does try to message parents if their child’s bus is going to be running late through the school messenger system.

He did note the transportation department does a great job in dealing with the bus routes, doing 12,500 miles of bus routes every day.
