Eric Wayman Woods, 31, of 822 Anchorage Road, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 11:48 a.m. Monday and faces charges of burglary, a Level 4 felony; two Level 5 felony burglary charges; possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony; three Class A misdemeanor charges for theft; possession of marijuana, a Class B misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Dec. 21 in Kosciusko Superior Court I, on Nov. 20 sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a call referencing a burglary.
Upon arrival, police spoke with a man who said his shed had been broken into and he believed Woods was the one who did it and that Woods was storing stolen property in the shed.
Police located several items that did not belong to the homeowner, according to the affidavit, including tools, video games, a prepaid debit card with a woman’s name on it, prescription medication with a man’s name on it, plumbing fittings, light fixtures, marijuana, smoking devices and clothing.
The next day, police were called in reference to a group of people having Woods surrounded for stealing a bicycle.
Upon arrival, a sheriff’s deputy dispersed the crowd and began speaking with Woods, who told police he had stolen a bicycle from a lot in the area, according to the affidavit. Woods admitted that he broke into the shed and entered property without permission.
During this discussion, police located a meth pipe on Woods, according to court papers.
Police were able to speak with owners of several of the stolen items, including a bicycle owner and the prepaid debit card owner, who all said Woods never had permission to enter their property or take their stuff.
His bond was set at $20,250.
