A Claypool man is charged with fraud after allegedly using his parents’ credit card to pay off old debts to his friends.

James Chester Shuster II, 27, of 824 E. CR 800S, Claypool, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:05 p.m. Monday and faces a Level 6 felony fraud charge and a Class A misdemeanor charge for theft.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Dec. 29 in Kosciusko Superior Court III, on Oct. 21 a man called police and said he and his wife’s joint bank account was missing $400.

The man told police his bank records show the money was paid to three different individuals through Facebook Pay, and that the man believes their son, Shuster, was the one who did it.

When police spoke to Shuster, according to court papers, he admitted he used the money to “pay some old debts” to his friends and that he did not have his mother’s permission. Shuster further told police that his mother had once let him use her card to order a pizza and that he saved the card numbers on his phone.

His bond was set at $5,250.
