WINONA LAKE - Grace’s men’s basketball team topped the century mark and then some in a 121-68 win over East-West on Saturday.

The Lancers (8-4) had seven players score in double figures as Grace wrapped up its nonconference schedule.

Grace will jump back into Crossroads League play on Wednesday, hosting No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan for a 7 p.m. tipoff.

Grace began the game strongly, jumping out to a 12-4 lead at the under-16 media timeout. The Lancers ran the ball effectively, fastbreaking to easy points before the Phantoms could establish their defense.

The Lancers made 10 of their first 13 field goals (77 percent) in a dynamic start, helping the hosts to a double-digit lead.

Grace was aggressive with the ball, earning its way to the foul line early and often. The Lancers shot 24 free throws in the half, making 20 (83 percent).

By halftime, Grace led 61-35. Grace shot 61 percent from the floor, making up for a 1-for-7 performance from the 3-point line.

Haden Deaton (14 points), Jake Wadding (12) and Cade Gibbs (11) each scored in double figures in the half.

Grace began the second half with a highlight as Frankie Davidson threw down an alley-oop dunk after a perfect pass by Matt Jennings.

In the second half, Grace quickly ballooned its lead even further. Before long, the cushion had grown to 50.

The Lancers used their bench liberally in the second half, resulting in balanced scoring across the box score.

Grace shot 60 percent from the floor compared to 35 percent for the Phantoms.

Deaton produced 21 points and seven rebounds in 23 minutes, shooting 8 of 12 from the floor. Elijah Malone picked up a double-double off the bench with 15 points, 10 boards and 2 blocks.

Wadding tallied 16 points, 4 boards, 3 assists and 2 steals while making 7 of 9 from the floor. Eddie Gill IV had 15 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists, and Jennings added 13 points and seven assists.

Davidson finished with 14 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals, and Gibbs tallied 13 points, 7 boards and 2 assists.

All 10 players who saw the court for Grace registered a point, including senior Cody Holmes who was making his first appearance of the season after returning from injury.
