Two hours ago (Feb. 24th) I went to the Kosciusko County Health Department to receive my first COVID-19 vaccination. I was so impressed with the efficiency of the process. From the time I stepped through the door, there were very kind people to guide me through every step of the process.

I scheduled my appointment yesterday in a very easy process and pre-registered online. I was full of anxiety but they made it so easy and you didn’t have the feeling of “where do I go next?” because there were kind people to guide you. I informed the nurses I couldn’t have needles in either arm and they knew exactly what to do and I received my shot in my hip.

As soon as the injection is administered, you are led to the waiting area where kind people check in with everyone several times to make sure they aren’t having any immediate adverse reactions. When I sat down for that part, it was a few minutes before my scheduled appointment. That’s how efficient the process was. Appointments on lunch breaks could easily be scheduled without the worry of getting back to work late. There was a steady stream of patients the entire time I was there so the efficiency wasn’t due to lack of people for vaccinations. My only complaint? It was very warm in the building.

I want to thank everyone at the Kosciusko County Health Department for making it so easy to get vaccinated in a quick efficient way, and for being kind throughout the process. People are stressed and apprehensive. Thank you for being on the frontline to help the public get vaccinations to be safe against COVID-19 so at some point life will resemble “more normal” than it does now.

Now, if we could just get the Indiana legislature and governor to stop hating on teachers so much, follow CDC guidelines and move them to the front of the line for vaccinations, we would all be much safer.
