New Battery Charges Filed Against North Webster Man Accused Of Stabbing

Jordan Dale Nieman, 24, of 206 E. Washington St., North Webster, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 4:32 p.m. Feb. 13 and faces charges for domestic battery resulting in moderate bodily injury, a Level 6 felony; criminal confinement, a Level 6 felony; domestic battery, a Class A misdemeanor; and false informing, a Class B misdemeanor.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Friday in Kosciusko Superior Court I, at 2:46 p.m. Feb. 13 North Webster and Syracuse police and Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a woman running from a home screaming and a man yanking her hair and hitting her inside of a vehicle.
Police spoke with witnesses, who, according to court papers, said they saw a man with brown or black hear, wearing black pants and no shirt chasing a woman with long blond curly hair in the front yard and tell the woman she wasn’t leaving.
Witnesses further said the woman jumped in the front seat of a vehicle parked in the driveway and that the man – later identified as Nieman – got in the passenger seat and pulled the woman’s ponytail then slammed her into the driver’s side window and appeared to be beating her.
Police went to the home to do a welfare check on the woman but no one would answer the door, according to court papers.
Police spoke with the homeowner – Nieman’s father – and he granted police permission to go inside to perform the welfare check.
Nieman then phoned his father, according to court papers, and told him to not let police come in.
The police did go in, and Nieman said there was no woman in the home. According to the affidavit, police found the woman upstairs with two fresh cuts over the top and bottom of her right eye, both her right and left eyes were swollen and bruised and her right hand had red marks on it.
When police asked her how she got those injuries, the woman told police she fell down the porch steps while having a seizure, according to the affidavit. When police told her they spoke with witnesses and were advised otherwise, the woman allegedly said she didn’t want Nieman to get in trouble and kept up with the seizure story. Police also observed blood on the woman’s clothing.
Nieman was arrested Dec. 7 and charged with a Level 5 felony for battery while armed with a deadly weapon and a Level 6 felony criminal recklessness while armed with a deadly weapon. That was after he is alleged to have stabbed a man in the Dollar General parking lot in October for no apparent reason and then fled the scene. Police were able to track Nieman down through surveillance footage and the victim and witnesses identifying him in a lineup.
His bond was set at $5,250 for his latest arrest.
