Warsaw Schools Welcomes Matt Deuel To Board Of Trustees

As the newest member of the Warsaw School Board, Deuel is eager to dive in and lend his voice to the team, according to a news release from WCS.
“It is an honor to join this incredible team. When my family moved here in 2014, we were blown away by the quality of the Warsaw Community Schools. I was privileged to serve on one of the strategic planning committees a few years ago, and I was stunned to find such a clear vision and group of passionate leaders all across our schools. It was inspiring and continues to be inspiring as our educators work selflessly through such a challenging time. Our family is grateful for this community and I am thrilled to serve in this role,” Deuel said.
Deuel graduated high school as a homeschooled student in the north-Atlanta suburbs in Georgia.
After studying electronic communications at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago for two years, he returned home to Atlanta to start his first business. As the president of the Iris Media Group, Deuel and his team served hundreds of clients in the Atlanta area fulfilling their video production and web development needs. Deuel also worked as a part-time employee with the Atlanta Hawks video production department to help produce their games and events for 15 seasons. Telling stories and leading organizations toward clear and compelling communication is a passion for Deuel.
He has also invested much of his life in training and encouraging the next generation. Deuel served as a youth pastor at Fellowship Bible Church in Roswell, Ga., and then as the executive director of a nonprofit organization that worked with college students.
“Seeing the light bulb come on for students as they connect with their personal passions and potential is one of the great joys of my life,” Deuel said.
Deuel and his wife, Erica, were married in 2004. They have three kids: Caleb, Jeremiah and Reagan, who currently attend Washington STEM Academy and Edgewood Middle School. Erica graduated from Kennesaw State University with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She used her love for art and teaching and began sharing art tutorials through a blog which eventually became her brand known as Spoonful of Imagination.
The Deuels came to Warsaw through a job Matt accepted at Mission Point Community Church as the executive pastor in 2014. Deuel led the staff team as well as oversaw the production needs of the church. Tapping into Deuel’s entrepreneurial and nonprofit skills and Erica’s passion for teaching and art, the Deuels opened the Spoonful of Imagination nonprofit Art Studio in Warsaw in 2017. In 2018, Deuel returned to his full-time production work with his company, One Voice Media, where he continues to help clients tell their stories through film and video production. He also serves on the board of directors with Agaitas, a Warsaw-based organization that develops leaders through sports, stated the release.
“Through my onboarding process and first few meetings with the school board it has become clear that managing a school system is incredibly hard work. I’m grateful however to find a team of people who are not interested in managing the status quo but rather pushing for us to be the best school system we can possibly be. Making long-term investments into the next generation through our schools and ensuring that every child receives the care and attention they deserve through their education will pay countless dividends in our community’s future. To play a role and bea small part of that is a privilege!” Deuel said.
