Bourbon Council Recognizes Street Superintendent For Service
By Carol Anders-
Terry was first hired at the Feb. 11, 1991, meeting of the Council and his start date was Feb. 18, 1991. Now, some 30 years later, Terry said he still loves his job. He said, “The Council is always there for me and I am always there for them.”
Terry said he is particularly glad to have a job where he can work outside. He refers to his “title” as a walking supervisor to the employee he shares with the Utilities Department. Part of his duties include making sure the streets are as safe as possible. He said, “During the snow season, I’m usually up by 4 a.m. to check the streets and make sure they are plowed.”
Council President Ward Byers presented the plaque to Terry and added that his family deserves an honor for their support.
Terry said, “My wife is a snow plow widow in the winter.” He said he appreciates the support of his wife, Denise, and their two grown children. Their son works as a counselor in Kendallville and their daughter moved back to Bourbon and teaches with the Triton schools.
Terry lived in the Bremen area and attended school from first to eighth grades before his family moved to Ohio. He said he moved back to this area for jobs and met his wife, who is a Bourbon native, and never wanted to leave.
