Woman Arrested On Battery Charges
By Amanda Bridgman-
Staci Marie Craft, 39, of 3750 Lake City Highway, #3, Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 6:12 p.m. Monday and faces charges for domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a Level 6 felony; and criminal recklessness while armed with a deadly weapon, a Level 6 felony.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Jan. 14 in Kosciusko Superior Court III, at 2:30 a.m. Nov. 17 Warsaw police officers responded to a complaint about an argument at Village Mobile Home Park.
Upon arrival, police located a man outside the nearby liquor store who told police he lived with Craft and they just had an argument.
The man further told police, according to court papers, that Craft had headbutted him, bit his lower lip, tried to hit him with a chair leg then punched him. Police observed the man’s lip to be bleeding, according to the affidavit.
When police went to the trailer, they found Craft agitated and not wanting to talk to police, according to court papers. Central Dispatch had informed officers that Craft’s father had come by and picked up Craft’s two children after the incident, and police told him to bring them back for questioning.
Upon speaking with Craft’s father, officers learned that Craft had threatened to harm herself while talking to him on the phone.
According to court papers, the children told police that Craft grabbed a razor blade from a box cutter and attempted to cut herself, but the children managed to get the box cutter blade away and hid it under a TV. The children further told police that they pinned their mother down after taking the box cutter away from her and waited for their grandfather to arrive.
Craft denied wanting to harm herself, according to the affidavit, but police located the razor under the TV where the children said it would be.
Her bond was set at $5,250.
