By Staff Report-
Also available are voice and piano lessons with Thomas Hall. Both in-person and virtual options are available, and it is important to note that during WWJR production, classes will be suspended.
No classes will meet from March 31-27.
In-person classes will be limited to 10 students in each class. Masks must be worn the entire class and students will remain socially distanced. Anyone who feels sick should use the virtual option for that week, as no refunds will be given for missed classes.
For students in grades two to four, theater adventures is offered that teaches students the basic principles of acting; Drama Time is for students in grades five through seven, where voice, movement and acting techniques will be taught through beginning scene work and improvisation. Students will practice creating characters by making specific choices to support the text.
For students in grades eight to 12, “Acting the Script” is an option, which covers everything from audition techniques to performance by engaging in intensive scene work using scene from contemporary and classic plays.
Tuition is $70 for a session of seven classes, and scholarships are available. Anyone with questions can email [email protected]
Virtual classes will be offered on Wednesdays from Feb. 24 to April 21. There are two options. For grades two through five, online storytelling will explore acting techniques on Zoom using games, improvisation and scripts. For students in grades six through 12, virtual acting will teach students how to create scripts intended for online performances.
Tuition for the virtual classes is $70 for seven sessions and enrollment will be taken on a first come, first served basis.
Scholarships are available for all programs. Wagon Wheel Theatre believes that every child should have an opportunity to experience live theatre first-hand regardless of ability to pay.
To request consideration for a scholarship, complete an application online and bring it to the box office or submit it directly to WWJR Executive Director Jay Michaels at [email protected].
Private lessons are also available for voice and piano.
Voice lessons at the Wagon Wheel will help to develop a reliable, balanced and performance ready singing voice across multiple musical genres.
Lessons are structured to help students develop healthy vocal production, and properly implement those skills across the various genres that are present in the current musical theatre landscape. There will be a firm foundation in classical voice, and the development of a balanced musical theatre speech-mix and belt.
Lessons are available for 30-minute and 60-minutes sessions.
Piano lessons through the Wagon Wheel will focus on developing the piano skills needed for solo piano performance with a movement towards collaboration and accompanying.
Piano lessons are offered in 30-minute sessions. Email Thomas Hall with questions at [email protected]
