The gift, which represents proceeds from the sale of his reserve grand champion steer at the Kosciusko County 4-H auction last summer, will support three charitable funds, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Community Foundation.
Nash is the son of Tyler and Missy Bouse and a member of the Leesburg Mighty Farmers 4-H Club. When asked why he chose to make a donation to the Community Foundation, Nash said, “I wanted to help out people in need.”
Nash has friends who have been patients at Riley Children’s Hospital. In honor of them, $500 of his donation will go to the Kosciusko County Riley Kids Fund. In addition to giving direct support to the hospital, this fund provides financial support to local families to help cover the cost of travel to and from Indianapolis.
The remainder of Nash’s donation will be split between the Kosciusko County 4-H Designated Endowment Fund and the Kurt Miller Ag Scholarship Fund. The Kurt Miller Ag Scholarship is awarded annually to a Tippecanoe Valley graduate who is pursuing an agriculture related college degree.
Missy said that Nash decided to give through the Community Foundation because they knew there were several ways to support organizations and causes the family cares about. “We were so blessed by all of the individuals and businesses that supported Nash at the auction, and we wanted to share that blessing with others,” she said.
Since 1968, Kosciusko County Community Foundation Inc. has helped donors achieve their charitable dreams. The Community Foundation is a public charity that grants over $6 million annually in the areas of education, health, arts and culture, recreation, civic projects, environment and human services. Gifts made to the Community Foundation are tax-deductible. For more information, call 574-267-1901 or visit 102 E. Market St., Warsaw.
