Gary Landis, 74, of Warsaw, passed away on Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, in his residence.

Born on March 20, 1947, in Charleston, W.Va., Gary was the son of Arthur “Bud” and Betty Bryant Landis.

Gary grew up in Oswego and graduated from Leesburg High School in 1965. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1970. He was formerly employed as a touchup inspector for RR Donnelley with over 40 years of service, retiring in 2006.

Gary was an avid golfer, playing over 100 rounds a year, mostly at Rozella Ford but also in Florida when he visited his sons, and in Texas when he visited his brother. He was a member of a very select golfing group, one where you shoot a score below your age. Gary did this twice, beating his age by one stroke each time.

Gary took excellent care of his mother in her later years.  He visited her every day at the nursing home, always arriving in time to watch “Jeopardy” with her.

Gary is survived by his children: Chris Landis and Michael Landis, both of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren: Taylor and Luke Landis; siblings; Phil (Barbara) Landis, Katy, Texas; and Janet (David) Bennett, Reynoldsburg, Ohio; and four nieces and nephews. He was preceded in passing by both parents.

A visitation is planned from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A memorial service in celebration of his life will begin at noon in the funeral chapel. Gary’s cousin, Mary Jo Dixon, will be conducting the service. Interment is private.
