Warsaw Boys Soccer Gets NLC?Win Over Plymouth

WARSAW – Warsaw boys soccer picked up a convincing win against Plymouth Thursday, winning 4-1. The Tigers are now on a four game win streak with their record sitting at 4-1.

Sophomore Noah Vanpuffellen added another goal in the contest, upping his total to four on the season. Senior Lewis Turley picked up his first goal of the year, and juniors Dennis Hernandez-martinez and Javier Enciso both scored their second goals of the campaign. Senior Miles Burkholder made some nice saves in goal, including stopping a penalty kick in the second half.

Warsaw plays its next game Saturday, a home contest against Mishawaka Marian.



Warsaw Girls Shut Out NorthWood

NAPPANEE – Warsaw girls soccer came home from their trip to NorthWood victorious after a 2-0 win Thursday. The Lady Tigers move to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play.

Junior Bonnie Hampton got Warsaw on the board with about 17 minutes remaining in the first half, scoring a goal assisted by senior Sam Aalbue. The Lady Tigers picked up an insurance goal in the second half, scored by senior Corissa Koontz. The win earned freshman goalkeeper Ellie Schenk her second shutout of the season.

Warsaw plays its next game in Fort Wayne Saturday, taking on Bishop Dwenger.



Warsaw Boys Tennis Picks Up Win

WARSAW – Warsaw boys tennis opened up conference play with a 4-1 victory over Mishawaka Thursday. The Tigers record on the season moves up to 2-2.

Senior Will Boren was lights out in his singles match, winning in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0. The duo of Zach Nicholas and Nick Boren also emerged victorious from their doubles match, winning 6-0, 6-3.

Warsaw plays its next match Tuesday, a road contest against Goshen.



Lady Tigers Win 3-Way Match

GOSHEN – Warsaw girls golf team took first place in a three-way match against Concord and Goshen Thursday, winning with a score of 185. The Lady Tigers record moves to 7-1, and the team is undefeated in conference play at 3-0.

Three of the five Warsaw Golfers shot below a 50 on their way to victory, including top overall performer Olivia Robinson-Gay, who shot a 42. Delaney Byron shot a 45, which tied her for the second best score in the competition. Marie Frazzetta shot a 48.

The Lady Tigers have their next contest Monday against Mishawaka and NorthWood.



Valley Volleyball Defeats Whitko

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley volleyball picked up a straight set win over Whitko Thursday night, 25-15, 25-13, 25-17. The victory moves Vally’s record to 5-2, while Whitko drops to 1-3.

Lady Viking senior Mallory Durkes led the charge for Valley, picking up eight kills as well as a block. Senior Macy Kirchenstein led the team with 18 assists and three aces. For Whitko, sophomore Audra Brandenburg led the team with four kills and two blocks.

Tippecanoe Valley will put its four game winning streak on the line Tuesday against Peru. Whitko will play in the Westview Invite Saturday.



Viking Boys Soccer Earns Draw

FULTON – Tippecanoe Valley boys soccer battled Caston to a 2-2 draw in a rematch of last week’s match Thursday.

Looking for revenge after Caston took last week’s game 4-2, Valley went down early. The Comets went up 1-0 after eleven minutes, but the lead would not last. Junior Jonathan Ruiz converted a penalty kick to even the score ten minutes later. It was the fourth consecutive game with a goal for Ruiz. Caston would take a 2-1 lead into halftime, but a goal by sophomore Gio Arriaga with 19 minutes left secured the tie for the Vikings.

Valley takes on Manchester Tuesday at home.



Tippecanoe Valley Girls Golf Wins 4-Way Contest

NORTH MANCHESTER – Tippecanoe Valley girls golf took first place in a four-way match against Whitko, North Miami and Manchester. Valley finished with a score of 181. Whitko came in second with a score of 210. Manchester finished fourth. Valley moves to 11-2 in match play this season with the win.

The Lady Vikings were led by Madelyn Weave and Molly Moriarty, who both shot a 42. Lilly Ault also had a solid round, finishing with a 47. Whitko’s best scorer was Guinny Garr, who shot a 49. Manchester’s leading scorer was Kayla Hippgusteel, who shot a 52.



Wawasee VB Stays Undefeated

SYRACUSE – Wawasee Volleyball defeated Bethany Christian Thursday in a 25-15, 25-21, 26-24 straight set victory. The win moves the Lady Vikings record to 5-0 on the season.

Senior Dylan Konieczny led the charge for the Warriors, finishing with a team-high 17 kills and nine digs. Junior Amanda Allen handed out 27 assists, the most on the team.

“This was a good match against a quality opponent,” head coach Jeff Phillips said. “We were able to overcome some runs and get the win.”

Wawasee plays next at the Westview Invite Saturday.



Wawasee Boys Soccer Falls

CULVER – Wawasee boys soccer was overmatched against Culver Academies Thursday night, dropping its game 6-0.  The Warriors record drops to 1-2.

Despite having seven shots on goal, Wawasee was unable to find the back of the net. Trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Warriors couldn’t muster anything in the second half, allowing four more goals.

Wawasee plays its next match Saturday against West Noble.



Warrior Tennis Drops Close Match

LIGONIER – Wawasee boys tennis dropped a close match to West Noble Thursday, losing 3-2. It was the first loss of the season for the Warriors, with their record falling to 4-1.

Wawasee took both of its victories in the singles competition, with Holden Babb winning in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2. Joey Harper also got a victory for the Warriors, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Wawasee will look to get back into the win column Saturday at Bremen.



Squire VB Loses Close Match

DENVER, Ind. – Manchester volleyball dropped a close game to North Miami Thursday, 25-15, 22-25, 23-25, 22-25. The loss drops the Lady Squires record to 2-4.

Senior Olivia Auler led Manchester with 21 service points, also adding seven aces and eight kills. Sophomore Paxton Baker had 26 assists and 20 digs, both team-highs.

Manchester hosts the MHS Invite Saturday.



LCA Boys Soccer Shut Out

GOSHEN – Lakeland Christian boys soccer was shut out by Bethany Christian 0-6 Thursday. The Cougars record falls to 1-2 on the year.

LCA was held to zero shots on goal in the contest. The bright spot for the Cougars came from freshman goalkeeper Braden Weirick, who made eight saves.

“We had a poor stretch of play to end the first half and Bethany took advantage,” head coach Dan Miller said. “We didn’t compete well in the first half, but we played much harder and better in the second half.”

LCA plays its next game Tuesday against Winamac.
