Forgery And Theft Charges Leveled Against Syracuse Woman

By Amanda Bridgman-

A Syracuse woman who allegedly used a business account without permission to purchase tools at a local hardware store is charged with felony forgery.

Kristine Faith Streby, 25, of 12640 N. Pleasant Grove Road, Syracuse, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday and is facing charges for forgery, a Level 6 felony; and theft, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Feb. 10 in Kosciusko Superior Court III, on Dec. 14 Syracuse police were dispatched to a hardware store where the store manager said Streby had come in on Dec. 11 and charged $164.74 of various tools to a local business account.

The manager said Streby signed the receipt given with the businessman’s name. Two days later, Streby again came back to the store and attempted to charge items to the business account, according to court papers, but was told by the store manager she could not do that unless she had permission from the account’s owner.

Streby then allegedly left the store and never attempted to contact the owner. The manager of the store did, however, contact the owner, who according to court papers, said Streby did not work at the business and did not have permission to charge items to the account.

Her bond was set at $5,250.
