Lake City Skiers Putting On All-Star Show Saturday To Help Raise Money

Steve Hawblitzel, with the ski group, said the all-star show is slated for gates to open at 3 p.m. at Hidden Lake in Warsaw. Entertainment and activities will begin at 3:30 p.m., with a junior skiers show to follow until the 5 p.m. main event. Concessions and a food truck will be available.
“We’re a nonprofit,” Hawblitzel said. “And due to COVID, we lost about a third of our season this year. One of the biggest ways we make income is doing the home shows and we pass around the hat for people to give us donations. Those donations help pay for our fuel, equipment and proving the free shows to the public.”
Hawblitzel said that since they’ve lost about one third of their season, that means they’ve also lost about one-third of their revenue. This Saturday’s all-star show will feature skiers from Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio, including some who have been former members of Team USA and former professional skiers from Sea World, Cypress Gardens, Lego Land in Florida and people who have performed internationally in places like Dubai and Japan.
“So it’s a very talented group of people coming together, and a lot of these folks haven’t gotten to perform any shows,” Hawblitzel said.
