Woman Jailed For Eyeglasses Frame Theft

Charlotte Megan Raab, 33, of 33 M-Dee Acres, Nappanee, who also shows an address in Bremen, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 9:24 p.m. Thursday and faces a Level 6 felony theft charge.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed June 19, 2019, in Kosciusko Superior Court II, on Feb. 25, 2019, Nappanee police received information from Warby Parker Inc.’s loss prevention investigator Ron Clark.
Clark told police that Raab has fraudulently obtained approximately $20,000 worth of designer eyeglass frames from the company and has been selling them online through two sales sites – Poshmark.com and Depop.com.
Warby Parker delivers a package of five eyeglass frames via the United States Postal Service to a potential buyer’s address, and the potential buyer returns any unwanted pairs and is charged to a credit card they have placed on file with Warby Parker. The potential buyer is charged for all five frames if none are returned. The frames average $100 each.
According to court papers, Warby Parker had sent approximately $20,000 worth to Raab at her Nappanee address between Nov. 8, 2018, and Jan. 20, 2019. Clark told police Raab had provided the company with multiple false email addresses and nonworking credit cards.
According to Warby Parker’s investigation, Raab profited $2,475.81 from selling the frames online.
When police asked Raab about it, according to the affidavit, she said, “Yeah, I did that.”
Her bond was set at $5,250.
