Lakeland Christian Boys, Culver Community Play To Draw

WINONA LAKE – Visiting Culver Community and Lakeland Christian Academy played to a 2-2 draw in non-conference boys soccer Tuesday night.

Landon Bremer converted a penalty kick in the 40th minute, and Andrew Bosch score off an assist by hunter Rice two minutes later for the host Cougars. Peter Kollar was credited with 11 saves.

“We finished the first half well, and started the second half with great energy. Landen Bremer calmly finished the penalty kick, and freshman Andrew Bosch had an incredibly well-taken goal,” said LCA head coach Dan Miller. “Our individual defending broke down too many times, and our midfield was too slow to defend. I’m happy that we have a week off before we play Manchester, it will allow us to refocus as we prepare for the rest of the season.”

The matchup with the Squires is set for 5 p.m. Sept. 22 in North Manchester.

Triton VB Postponed

BOURBON – Tuesday’s volleyball match between Bethany Christian and host Triton has been postponed “for COVID-related reasons,” according to Mason McIntyre, Trojan athletic director.

McIntyre said the schools will work on getting the match rescheduled “if at all possible.”
