By Staff Report-

The Kosciusko Economic Development Corporation (KEDCO) on Wednesday announced the launch of awards programs to recognize and celebrate emerging leaders, as well as local businesses that are making an impact in Kosciusko County.

“As we have worked over the last two years to reset our economic development efforts, it has become clear that among the ‘well kept secrets’ are many of the individuals and businesses that are fueling our economy,” said KEDCO CEO Alan Tio. “We look forward to celebrating the awardees at the KEDCO annual meeting this fall.”

The Rising Leader award is for rising or emerging leaders in the community who are under 40 years of age, and are making an impact with their leadership as an employee in their workplace, as a local business owner and/or through their involvement in the local community. Nominations should highlight a minimum of one of the mentioned areas – employee leadership, business owner leadership or community leadership. The KEDCO team and board of directors will identify and award 20 Rising Leaders for 2020.

In addition to recognition at KEDCO’s annual meeting, Rising Leader award recipients will be invited to participate in a mentorship program. As the mentee, Rising Leader award recipients will be matched with a local mentor and will design a customized mentorship program.

“We believe the mentorship program provides a unique opportunity to support awardees on the next steps in their leadership journeys,” said Tio. “We will also look for ways to connect awardees with other important programs such as Kosciusko Leadership Academy.”

KEDCO will recognize local businesses in the county that have made an investment in the community through new job creation, expansion projects and/or by making a COVID-19-related investment in the community or workplace during 2020 with Business Impact awards.

“An important aspect of our mission at KEDCO is to highlight the great things our people and businesses are doing to contribute to our communities and local economy,” said Tio. “We need community members to help share those successes with us. We know people here have stories to tell, so let’s share those stories.”

Nominations for both awards can be submitted online at http://bit.ly/KEDCOAwards.

The deadline for nominations is Sept. 30. If you have questions regarding the Rising Leader award program, the Business Impact award program or questions regarding submissions, contact KEDCO Talent Partner Kristen Hale at [email protected].
