Scouts Attend Pioneering Merit Badge Clinic
September 15, 2020 at 9:19 p.m.
By Staff Report-
The Scouts learned different knots and lashing, how to make a rope, coil and throw a 50-foot rope, along with the different types of ropes. The Scouts lashed together an 18-foot flag pole, a tripod for hanging a pot over the fire and a first-aid stretcher, among other things. They were made aware of injuries and conditions that could occur while working on pioneering projects.
Troop 715 also recently participated in the 9/11 ceremony, finished their kayaking and canoeing merit badges and are planning to do two or three merit badges on Oct. 3 and 4 at the Nye Youth Cabin on Center Lake. A trip to southern Indiana on Oct. 10 is planned, where they will do a cave trip, visit the Pioneer Village at Spring Mill State Park and hunt for geodes.
Troop 715 meets from 7 to 8 p.m. every Monday at the Trinity United Methodist Church on East Center Street in Warsaw.
