The Warsaw Lady Tigers, on the other hand, were able to break a three-way tie in the regular season standings and solidify a third-place overall finish with their effort in Saturday’s eight-team conference tournament at South Shore Golf Club.
The Lady Tigers, who finished the round robin portion of the conference schedule tied at 4-3 with Plymouth and Wawasee, carded a four-player score of 386 Saturday en route to their third-place overall finish.
Concord, 7-0 in round robin play, shot 333 Saturday to beat NorthWood by seven strokes and end the Lady Panthers’ conference title streak at eight.
The championship was a program-first for Concord.
“We had our ups and downs, but overall I’m really pleased with how we scored and how we played,” said Warsaw coach David James.
“We had some really good pars, we had some really good shots, and then again we also had a couple challenging places at times. It’s just learning to play around those and continually just trying and striving to be better with every shot.”
Plymouth was fourth on Saturday’s tournament scoreboard with a 391, followed by Goshen (393), Wawasee (394), Northridge (433) and new league member Mishawaka (447).
Olivia Robinson-Gay led Warsaw with an 89, while Sydney Lancaster shot 93, Marie Frazzetta 99, Brooklyn Fitzgerald 105 and Abigail Davis 106.
Warsaw was playing without the services of normal varsity player Delaney Byron, who is expected to return to the lineup for Saturday’s sectional at Stonenenge.
“I think she did a great job, especially given that she’s a freshman,” James said of Robinson-Gay’s performance. “She’s been consistently starting to come in with lower and lower scores, and it’s great to see that even with the competition and everything going on she still pulled in the 89. It really speaks a lot not only to her dedication as an athlete, but also the fact that she is a freshman.”
Taylor Cripe, who joined Robinson-Gay on the all-conference team, led Wawasee with an 89.
Other scores in the Lady Warriors’ four-player total included Tate Cowan’s 93, Kylee Firestone’s 96 and Delaney Delagrange’s 116.
Izy Losee rounded out Wawasee’s lineup with a 118.
“She played solid all day long,” Wawasee coach Steve Coverstone said of Cripe. “She had a few glitches on the greens, a few double bogeys, but overall she did a really nice job. I think she finished with a 6 or 7 on No. 18, that really kind of hurt her.
“I’m happy with the girls. I think the girls, for the experience we have, had a good year.”
Four of Wawasee’s top six players are in their first varsity season, said Coverstone.
NorthWood’s Cybil Stillson and Concord’s Belle Brunner shot 76s for the top score of the day.
Stillson earned medalist honors after winning a playoff.
Warsaw’s Lancaster and Wawasee’s Cowan were named to the all-NLC honorable mention list.
