Allen was a 1955 graduate of Warsaw High School. He received his technical certificate from DeVry University in Chicago.
He served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. Allen worked as a station operator for the Buckeye Pipeline for 27 years, retiring in 1998. He was a 48-year member of College Park United Brethren Church, was a member of Kiwanis Metro Club where he was a past president from 2001 to 2002 and was a member of the Erie Band. Allen loved being with his family, fishing for bluegill, gardening vegetables, doing jigsaw puzzles, playing solitaire and he loved his pets.
Allen was born on Nov. 1, 1937, in Warsaw, the son of the late Warren and Elouise Kuhn Morehead.
He was united in marriage to Carol L Whysong on Oct. 14, 1961, in Westchester, Ill. Carol survives.
Additional survivors include two sons: Richard (Nancy) Morehead, of Red Bluff, Calif.; Robert Morehead, of Huntington; two daughters: Linda Morehead, of Indianapolis; Lisa (Mark) Driscoll, of Huntington; a brother: Charles (Bonnie) Morehead, of Anderson; a sister: Carolyn Youse, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Glenn Morehead.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon at the College Park United Brethren Church, 1945 College Ave., Huntington. We will be following the CDC’s guidelines for social distancing and social gathering limits.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the College Park United Brethren Church with Pastor Jason Carter and Pastor Gary Dilley officiating.
Private family burial at a later time.
