Garriott Has A Goal And An Assist In Manchester’s Road Win

DENVER – Emma Garriott had a goal and an assist, leading Manchester to a 2-0 Three Rivers Conference girls soccer win at North Miami Tuesday night.

Garriott scored the match’s first goal off an assist from Beletu Stout. Laney Shock scored late in the first half off a cross from Garriott.

The Squire defense was strong, and goalkeeper Kindra Stetzel saved the one shot on goal.

Next up for Manchester is a non-conference road matchup at Huntington North Thursday.



LCA Gets Road Win

WINAMAC – Trailing 1-0 on the road with less than 10 minutes remaining, Lakeland Chriatian Academy scored twice in the match’s final minutes, including the winner with fewer than two minutes to go for a 2-1 boys soccer win at Winamac Tuesday.

Brayden Lane got the equalizer off an assist from Andrew Bosch in the 72nd minute. Six minutes later, Bosch found Garrett McKeever for the winner in the 78th minute.

Peter Koller was credited with eight saves on the night.

“Tonight we showed great resilience, we could have packed it in and took the loss, however the heart of this team wouldn’t allow us to quit,” Cougar head coach Dan Miller said. “Freshman Andrew Bosch played two beautiful passes that allowed Brayden and Garrett to finish on goal to give us the comeback win. We got better from this game, and I’m proud of this team.”

The Cougars improved to 4-1 on the season, and will next travel to New Prairie for a match Saturday morning.



Wawasee Downs Whitko

SYRACUSE – Wawasee had wins in two singles positions and both doubles spots to get a 4-1 non-conference boys tennis win over visiting Whitko Tuesday.

Holden Babb won in three sets at No. 1 singles, and Devon Kuhn dropped just two games in his straight-set win at No. 3 singles.

At No. 1 doubles, Grant Brooks and Blaine Baut won in straight sets, as did Ty Brooks and Nathan Harper at No. 2 doubles.

Aiden Hoffman was a winner for the Wildcats at No. 2 singles, also in straight sets.

In junior varsity play, Jeb Ritchey and Will Long won matches for Wawasee.

Now 2-2 overall, Wawasee will seek to improve on its 0-1 Northern Lakes Conference record Thursday, visiting Concord.

Whitko falls to 3-2 and will travel to Fort Wayne Blackhawk on Thursday for a non-conference match.



Whitko G. Golf Wins Twice

SYRACUSE – Led by Kylie Hathaway’s 46, Whitko earned wins over host West Noble and Manchester at South Shore Golf Club Tuesday. The Wildcats’ team score of 197 bested West Noble’s 210 and Manchester’s 229.

Other scores for Whitko were Augusta Garr, 48; Erin Starkweather, 51 and Guinny Garr, 52.

Manchester was paced by Kayla Hippensteel’s 51 followed by Delaini Henderson, 55; Chaynee Tennant, 61, Alexis Gearhart, 62 and Emma Ulrey, 66.

The medalist was West Noble’s Kacy Click, who shot a 42.

Whitko will take on Fort Wayne Canterbury Thursday. Manchester hosts Oak Hill Thursday. Both are non-conference matches.
