Fred was born on May 25, 1949, in Monroe, Wis., to the late Frank and Mabel Affolter Searles. He was married on Nov. 16, 2007, in Huntington, to Jennie Lu Hudson Mock; she survives.
Fred was a 1967 graduate of Broadhead High School in Broadhead, Wis. He worked for General Motors for 41 years, with his last 25 years in Fort Wayne, and retired in 2008.
He is survived by his wife Jennie Lu Searles, of Mentone; a son, Michael and wife Teri Searles, of Decatur; a daughter, Leslie and husband Jason Burns, of Decatur; grandchildren, Skyler Brown, Elias Searles and Ella Searles; a sister, Heidi and husband Mark Updike, of Monticello, Wis.; and a brother, Tim and wife Julie Searles, of Broadhead, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mabel Searles.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Monday, Nov. 2 at King Memorial Home, 101 N. Tucker St., Mentone. The funeral service will be at noon Monday, Nov. 2 at King Memorial Home, Mentone, with Pastor Duane Kline officiating. The interment will take place in the Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
The family requests masks to be worn for all who are in attendance at the funeral services for Mr. Searles.
