Joseph Wildermuth, 98, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2020, at Hickory Creek Health Care in Rochester.

He was born on Sept. 2, 1922, on the family farm near Millark, the son of Solomon Ray and Iona Rae Blacketor Wildermuth.

In 1944, he married Garnet Wright, and she passed away in 1995. In 1998, he married Betty Steen, and she passed away in 2015. Joe was proud to have served in the navy aboard a destroyer escort during World War II.  After the war, he graduated from Purdue University. He taught math and science at North Miami High School. After retiring from teaching, he volunteered at Wee Care Day Care helping the children use the computers and learn to play chess.

He is survived by two daughters: Theressa (Bert) Sterk, of Akron; and Jane Ann (Ted) Bailey, of Hart, Mich.; two sons: Mark (Diane) Wildermuth, of Akron; and Mike (Sandy) Wildermuth, of Macy; as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. Ind. 15, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
