An accident Monday morning left one man with a broken leg after the car he was driving rear-ended a semi.

Warsaw police responded to the intersection of U.S. 30 and South CR 250E at 6:18 a.m. Monday and determined that a tan 2005 Ford Freestyle was traveling west on U.S. 30, approaching the intersection of South CR 250E.

The driver, Drake A. Cochran, 28, North Southwinds Trail, Warsaw, told police he was distracted by a phone call and did not realize that the 2014 Kenworth semi was stopped at a red light, and he crashed into the back of the semi.

The semi was driven by Elmer E. Conklin, 59, Napoleon, Ohio, and he was not injured.

Cochran suffered a broken right leg as a result of the crash.

Police estimate damage is between $1,000 to $2,500.
