Melvin Santana-Slone, 37, of 522 N. Parker St., Warsaw, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 6:20 p.m. Aug. 29 and faces charges for criminal confinement, a Level 6 felony; intimidation, a Level 6 felony; battery, a Class B misdemeanor; and interference with the reporting of a crime, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Thursday in Kosciusko Superior Court I, on Aug. 29 Warsaw police were dispatched to a home in reference to a woman crying on a phone call with 911.
Upon arrival, police spoke with the woman who was so upset she couldn’t speak at first, according to court papers. She eventually told police that she and Slone had gotten into an argument, that Slone pushed her against a door and she tried to phone police. Slone then allegedly took her phone away, threatened to break the phone and told her he was going to kill her, according to the affidavit.
The woman later asked Slone if she could take a shower, to which he gave permission, and he agreed to give her phone back. While in the bathroom, the woman called 911.
When police spoke with Slone, he said nothing more than a verbal argument had happened.
Slone’s bond was set at $5,250.
