I moved to Warsaw in 2004 and soon found there were a couple other families in town that shared the same last name as me. Soon after, I wanted to be involved in my kids’ lives and to find ways that I could give back to the community, so I signed up to start coaching Upwards Basketball, YMCA and the Kosciusko Community Soccer League.

In 2007, the KCSL assumed Cary and I were related and assigned me to coach a soccer team that he was sponsoring. About halfway through that season, our team was doing OK, however, I was frustrated that we were not winning more. I had lunch with Cary during that time and he asked me to consider changing my focus. I remember it well as he said, “How can you use your talents and the opportunities that you have been given to make a positive difference in someone else’s life?”

I thought a lot about that and did change my focus. The result ended up being the most memorable season that I remember, even to this day. Every kid ended up scoring a goal and we ended up winning the last game in overtime. That season and the advice I received from Cary had an impact on me.

I am writing this letter because I believe that Cary is using his talents and the opportunity he has during this season to make a positive difference in his role as commissioner for each person in Kosciusko County. He has a vision to help our county to continue to grow and is the right person, in the right place, at the right time, to help make that happen for all of us.

I would encourage you to vote Cary Groninger for Commissioner on November 3rd.
