Doris was born the daughter of Oliver and Edith DeHaven, in Mishawaka, on Sept. 26, 1931, and was a graduate of Mishawaka High School in 1949. She had been a long-time resident of Etna Green. She was a “city girl who became a farm girl.” She and her husband were grain and livestock farmers. She wasn’t afraid to drive a tractor. Doris was part of the Neighborhood Ladies Club for over 64 years. She was a long-time volunteer at Kosciusko Community Hospital and Warsaw Wesleyan Church. She was always stepping up to be of help to others. Some of Doris’ interests included: bus trips and traveling around the U.S. She was a huge sports fan and especially her beloved Notre Dame.
Doris married the love of her life, Lowell G. Vining, on Aug. 29, 1954; he preceded in death Feb. 11, 1992.
Those who will greatly miss Doris are her children: Myron (Cindy) Vining, of Syracuse; Jean Ann Bordner and Matthew Tedesco, of Fort Wayne; Lynn (Teresa) Vining, of Goshen; and Clinton Vining and Wendy Walters, of Bourbon. She was blessed with six grandchildren: Justin (Halie) Vining, Ryan Bordner, Nathan (Sarah) Vining, Andrea Bordner, Isaac Vining, Hannah Vining; and her two great-grandchildren, Dylan Wamsley and Corbin Bordner.
