She was born on Sept. 10, 1933, in Ligonier. Marlene was the oldest of 15 children born to Pauline Mildred Huss Moser and George Benjamin Moser. She was married on April 29, 1952, to Gerald Dean Kimmel. They shared 59 years of marriage together before he passed away on May 31, 2011.
She had been a resident in Fort Wayne for the past three years and previously had enjoyed living at Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake. Marlene made many friends while at Grace Village and attended services at Grace Village Chapel when she was able to. She was a dedicated wife and mother, known for her hospitality and service to others. She enjoyed fishing, traveling, walking the beaches, birdwatching and hosting others with her generosity and love.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Deborah (Joe) Trahin, Fort Wayne; three sons: Brad (Linda) Kimmel, Fort Wayne; Barton (Shelley) Kimmel, Fishers; Matthew (Michelle) Kimmel, Raleigh, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gerald; daughter, Jocelyn Hess; and three siblings.
A graveside service will be held at Covington Memorial Gardens of Fort Wayne on Saturday, Oct. 10 at 1:30 p.m.
Arrangements were entrusted with Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.
