NORTH WEBSTER – Ronnie A. “Ron” West, 84, of Leesburg, passed away at 5:15 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 24, 2020, at Majestic Care Nursing Home in New Haven.

He was born on Nov. 19, 1936, in Burket, to Arthur Sheridan and Marjorie Parks West.

He grew up in Warsaw, attended Warsaw High School and received his bachelor’s and master’s degree (and for the most part, he didn’t even start until he was 44 years old) from Eastern New Mexico University.

He was married on Jan. 29, 1957, in Clovis, N.M., to Janis A. Reiser, who preceded him in January 2000. He then remarried on Oct. 15, 2000, in Goshen, to R. Carolyn Manges, Shively, who survives.

He was a Vietnam veteran and retired as a M.Sgt. after 20 years in the United States Air Force.

He formerly worked at Reiser Florist, then was a school teacher and ultimately retired as a principal from Jefferson School in Hobbs, New Mexico after 20 years. He lived in New Mexico most of his adult life and in 2000 returned to the Warsaw/Leesburg area. He attended the Clunette United Methodist Church and was a former member of Southern Baptist Church in New Mexico.

He loved nothing more than Jesus, his family, friends and remolding stuff. He is remembered by his family and friends as a selfless giver that always thought of others before himself. He never ever met a stranger and everyone he came in contact with was left with a lasting impression of love and kindheartedness. Though deeply missed you will never be forgotten!

He is survived by wife, Carolyn West, of Leesburg; son, Kenneth (Greta) West, of Dallas Texas; three stepdaughters: Katrina Ousley, of South Whitley; Kristi K. (Darren) Fugett, of Larwill; and Kelly K. (Mike) Todd, of Leesburg; two grandsons: Spencer and Ross West; six stepgrandchildren; 11 stepgreat-grandchildren; sister, Debbie Gittleson, of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife; daughter, Sonia West; two sisters: Marjorie Wolford and Margean Saltsgiver; and two brothers, Jim and Mike West.

Cremation will take place at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. Ind. 15, Warsaw. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30 at Owen Family Funeral Home, Ind. 13 and CR 500N, North Webster. Memorial services will follow at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 30 in the funeral home with Pastor Mike Beezley officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date.

Preferred memorials may be given to the Soldiers and Sailors Children’s Home, 10892 N. St. Rd. 140, Knightstown, IN 46148.
