Lady Tigers Now 2-0 With Win Over Wabash

Warsaw’s defense completely dominated at the outset, as they streaked out to a 10-0 lead, forcing Wabash into committing 17 turnovers in the first half.
The Lady Tigers did not allow Wabash to score a field goal until just over a minute left in the first quarter, holding them to only 21% from the field.
The Apaches fought back however and pulled to within 2 pts as the second stanza began with the score 10-8.
The Lady Tigers regrouped as freshman rising star Ava Wetzel saw significant varsity action in the period and provided a spark for Warsaw to extend their lead.
Senior Kensie Ryman’s hot shooting led all scorers at the end of the 2nd quarter with 14 of Warsaw’s halftime tally.
A long three-point buzzer beater by fellow senior Kendall Wayne pushed the Lady Tigers’ lead to 26-12 at halftime.
Tiger pressure continued as the second half began as Warsaw’s smothering guard play continued to cause turnover after turnover as the Lady Tigers contined to extend their lead to 42-21 at the end of the 3rd quarter.
Yet another Wabash turnover began the final quarter, followed by a foul, and then another long stretch of frustration by the Apaches as the Lady Tigers continued to dominate the game in every category and pull away for the final score of 48-33.
Warsaw was led in scoring by Kensie Ryman with . 16 points.
Wabash came into the contest averaging 58 points per game, largely due to the interior height advantage they enjoy over most teams.
At 6’2” Warsaw junior center Abby Sanner more than held her own in the paint, as did sophomore Lauren Grose.
The Warsaw Lady Tigers were without senior standout Audrey Grimm, who scored a career high 24 points in the season opener against Manchester last week. The team was also playing without junior assist machine Bailey Stephens. Both girls stayed home due to COVID issues.
