Semi Hits Car On 30; Both Drivers OK
By Amanda Bridgman-
Pierceton police responded at 7:27 a.m. Wednesday to the intersection of U.S. 30 and CR 900E after a 2009 Pontiac GS pulled across U.S. 30 and into the path of a westbound 2007 Freightliner.
Pierceton Town Marshal Tim Sammons said the driver of the car was Samantha Love, 22, of Pierceton, who was traveling north on CR 900E and stopped at the intersection’s stop sign before pulling out to cross U.S. 30. Love told police as she was waiting in the center of U.S. 30, her view was blocked and she did not see the semi traveling west, so when she pulled out, the semi rear-ended her.
The semi was driven by Gesus Albarado, 31, and the crash was not his fault, Sammons said.
Love complained of neck and back pain and was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision, but was treated by Lutheran EMS medics on scene and signed off, Sammons said. Albarado was uninjured.
Estimated damage is between $15,000 and $20,000. PPD was assisted at the scene by Lutheran EMS, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office and Pierceton – Washington Township EMS.
