The contract included raises in pay.
Teachers in the master’s column will receive an increase of $800 on the salary schedule plus a $200 stipend if rated highly effective or effective. Teachers in the bachelor’s column will receive an increase of $325 on the salary schedule plus a $125 stipend if rated highly effective or effective, stated Superintendent Blaine Conley.
Starting salary for a teacher with a bachelor’s degree is $38,325, Conley said. For the 2019-20 school year, starting salaries for those with bachelor’s degrees were $37,025.
Starting salaries for teachers with a master’s will be $45,450. For the 2019-20 school year, it was $42,250.
The top of the salary schedule is $68,650. For the 2019-20 school year, it was $67,850.
Early retirement incentive is being offered to teachers who meet the Rule of 85, according to information provided by Conley. The incentive of $15,000 will be split in two payments over two years. Those teachers need to notify Conley in writing by the end of December. This is to plan for next year and to help find teachers to find those positions.
The Rule of 85 states a teacher is eligible for retirement if they meet certain qualifications.
Tippecanoe Valley High School teachers who teach Advanced Placement or dual credit classes will receive a $500 stipend at the end of the school year, Conley said.
Tippecanoe Valley Classroom Teachers Association ratified the contract Nov. 3.
In other business, the school board Monday will:
• Be asked to approve the reappointment of Janet Hackworth to the Akron Carnegie Public Library Board.
• Be asked to approve an annual memorandum of understanding with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office for a school resource officer.
• Consider the 2021-22 and 2022-23 school calendars. Conley said the board will not be asked to approve the calendar Monday, but will be asked to do so in December.
• Be asked to approve a $1,000 Fulton County REMC Round-Up Grant for the TVHS family and consumer science class.
