He was born on June 25, 1930, in Warsaw, to Cloice and Winifred Ingalls Metzger. He graduated in 1948 from Claypool High School, attended International Business College in Fort Wayne and was a United States Army veteran, where he received a Bronze Star Medal.
He was a lifetime Claypool/Warsaw area resident and was married on June 7, 1953, in Claypool, to Genevieve J. “Gee” Yant, who survives. He was a farmer and former owner/operator of Metzger Cattle Company in Claypool for many years. He was a member of the Claypool United Methodist Church.
He is survived by wife, Gee Metzger, of Warsaw; two sons: Rodney Wayne (Ann) Metzger, of Claypool; and Blaine Allen (Mary) Metzger, of Naples, Fla.; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-granddaughter; sister, Joyce (Robert) Kline, of Warsaw; and cousin, Beverly Lyons, of Crossville, Tenn.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will take place at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 13 at Oakwood Cemetery, 421 N. Maple Ave., Warsaw, with Pastor Glen Hall officiating. The family requests that face masks are to be worn. Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. Ind. 15, Warsaw, is in charge of arrangements.
