Triton Seeing An Increase In Number Of Students In Quarantine

Riffle explained that there has been an increase on the number of students that have been asked to quarantine. He went on to say that due to two staff members absent from the food service area, they had altered the meals that were provided for staff and students on Monday.
Riffle said he would be meeting with the Marshall County Health Department today for their recommendations and to learn how other school corporations are operating.
He said, “We are seriously watching the COVID numbers. We will be discussing the next best steps.”
Riffle said the IT staff have been working for 12 weeks to prepare for students to use digital learning, if necessary.
Since the Triton School Corporation has been named a Standard Performance School, they have been able to count student learning by the hours as opposed to the number of days. According to Riffle, they have asked for a waiver to continue counting attendance in the same manner and state officials are expected to discuss it today.
“This allows us more flexibility,” Riffle said.
The December meeting could be moved to the jr./sr. high school library to accommodate patrons and an anticipated number of seniors taking a government class. The final location will be published prior to the meeting.
The annual senior bus trip to Washington, D.C., is still scheduled for May 6-10. If the trip has to be cancelled, students who have paid fees to attend will get a refund with the exception of $50. The trip is a bus trip with Classic tours.
There was a short presentation on the possibility of changing to another company that would offer air travel for the 2021-22 school year.
