Its been reported that health care workers across the nation are losing their jobs. At this historic point in the time of COVID-19, we need every healthcare worker at work. They aren’t leaving because of the danger to their health; they are leaving because their place of employment is being forced into making difficult decisions. The employers are faced with rising cost and falling income. The costs are increasing to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the income is dropping due to the reduction in providing needed, yet nonessential, services and procedures.

Healthcare providers can control only a portion of their costs, like utilities, supplies and wages. They can only lower the heating and lighting so much. They can reuse masks and gowns only so many times. Unfortunately, the decision to reduce staff may sometimes be their only option.

The good news is that each of us can help equalize their costs and income with our small donations. If each of us, who can, will make a small donation to the healthcare provider of our choosing, we may make a difference. If you are fortunate enough to make a small donation, please consider doing so.

If you don’t have a health care provider in mind to donate to, please consider Parkview Family Medicine in Warsaw. Parkview Family Medicine Team 1 is lead by Laura Beth Newman, N.P.-PCP. She and her team of health care professionals will listen to you describe your ailments, run a battery of tests and prescribe a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs.

If you would like to make a donation to Parkview, you have a couple ways to do that. The first way is preferred as the donation will go to the Parkview facility with the greatest need. The Fort Wayne Parkview Distribution Center at 1050 Production Road will accept your donation; please call them first at 260-266-1066 as they have guidelines to follow. The second way to donate is to bring them to the Score department at Parkview Warsaw at 1355 Mariner’s Drive, Warsaw.

One final word. Lets say a prayer for Parkview Warsaw Team #1 led by Laura Beth Newman and all the healthcare workers everywhere.
