Road Officials Reporting Flood Waters Receding

The city of Warsaw Street Department said the only road closure remaining due to high water as of Thursday afternoon was Hand Avenue between Ind. 25 and Center Street.
Citizens are able to contact the street department to request sand bags for delivery, if needed, Monday through Friday. However, according to the Street Department, no one requested any sand bags on Wednesday and only one person did so on Thursday.
Steve Moriarty, Kosciusko County Highway Department superintendent, said of the six roads they closed on Tuesday, only one remained closed Thursday afternoon, which was Sellers Lake from Woodland to Lake Shore.
“The water is receding,” Moriarty said Thursday. “We’re just hoping that here within the next rain that we get that it doesn’t go back the other way. But it is going down and starting to flow through the ditches pretty easily and finally getting to the tile that they need to, to get taken away.”
Winona Lake Town Manager Craig Allebach said he’s not heard complaints about flooding in the town, but said Winona, when it gets a lot of rain, can get pretty wet but that it’s nothing to be concerned about right now.
According to the National Weather Service North Webster office, rain isn’t expected until later during the holiday weekend.
