She was born on Oct. 18, 1946, at Clinton County Hospital, Frankfort, to Forest and Rachel Stoops. She attended Westfield Elementary, Carmel High School and earned her B.S. and M.A. from Ball State University.
She taught art at Twenhofel Middle School, Independence, Ky.; Syracuse Elementary and Wawasee High School in Syracuse; and Warsaw Community High School in Warsaw. One of her greatest joys, besides her family, was working in Milford and Ace Hardware flower shops. She loved people and continued her passion for the arts – studying, teaching workshops and making art even after she retired.
Sara is survived by her husband, Joel; a brother, Michael Stoops; two children, Kristin Steffen and Mason Robbins; and four grandchildren.
Her sister, Rebecca Butcher, preceded her in death.
Sara was a member of Wawasee Lakeside Chapel.
As a health precaution, no immediate memorial service is planned. Farley Funeral Home in Venice, Fla., is handling the arrangements.
