Patricia Jane Zeringue, 41, of 4223 E. CR 450N, lot 2, Leesburg, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 6:06 p.m. Monday and faces charges for burglary, a Level 4 felony; theft, a Class A misdemeanor; and criminal mischief, a Class B misdemeanor.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed Wednesday in Kosciusko Superior Court I, on Monday deputies with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in reference to a burglary.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a man who said he was working on the house for the homeowner so they could sell it. The man told police he arrived at the residence earlier that evening with a potential buyer and noticed a broken window on the residence.
When the man went inside to investigate the broken window, according to court papers, he found Zeringue inside.
Police observed half of a brick inside the home that they believe was used to break the window, along with damage to the banister and railing.
According to the affidavit, Zeringue appeared to be intoxicated and when officers placed her under arrest, Zeringue handed over a Bostich brand nail gun, valued at around $100, and a set of house keys for the home. A further search of Zeringue resulted in police finding a tape measure in her jacket pocket.
Zeringue’s bond was set at $5,250.
