McConnell Files Exploratory Committee Paperwork To Run For Commissioner

McConnell, 37, plans to run for the middle district commissioner seat currently held by Republican Cary Groninger.
Heather Smith, a business banker at 1st Source Bank, will serve as his committee treasurer.
McConnell has practiced law for over a decade. In addition to practicing personal injury law, he serves as a public defender for citizens who cannot afford to hire an attorney in Kosciusko Superior Court II, according to a news release from McConnell.
He is a former board member and president of the Beaman Home, former board member of Gradway and former board member of the Northern Indiana Maternal Child Health Network. McConnell currently serves on the Warsaw Morning Optimist Club Board, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Merit Board and is the current president of One Warsaw, a community organization that promotes varying viewpoints and seeks to heal divides in the community, the release states.
McConnell said he has the support of his wife, Sara, with whom he has two children, adding that he is excited for the opportunity to provide an additional point of view to the community and help to bring the community together.
