By Staff Report-
Whitko Jr./Sr. High School understands that this year has provided many obstacles for students, parents, guardian, and the community as a whole, according to a news release from Whitko Jr./Sr. High School.
“These obstacles have been met with uncertainty, frustration and at times fear, but as we hope for a return to normalcy in the future, Whitko Jr./Sr. High School wants to provide a moment of normalcy for our graduating class of 2020 and their families,” the release states.
The high school is planning for the graduation commencement to be conducted from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 17 at the football stadium. If there is inclement weather July 17, the school will reserve July 18 as a make-up date. During this ceremony, Whitko Jr./Sr. High School will be limiting the number of attendees to two people per graduating student. This measure is intended to maintain a safe environment during the ceremony, according to the release.
The school will be releasing more details in the weeks to come about how to safely proceed with the graduation celebration in cooperation with local health department and agencies.
Whitko Jr./Sr. High School acknowledges the possibility of the state not being at Stage 5 of the governor’s plan by the July 4 target date, stated the release. If WJSH has to postpone the July 17 ceremony, it proposes the following options: July 24 (rain date of July 25), and July 31 (rain date of Aug. 1). If the school is unable to hold the ceremony by Aug. 1, it will cancel the ceremony.
More specific details about commencement plans will be released in the coming weeks.
