He was born in Pierceton May 4, 1934, to Harry L. and Marjorie C. Ritter Harris. He graduated from Pierceton High School in 1952 and from Purdue School of Pharmacy in 1956.
He served two years in the U.S. Army.
He started his career at Walter’s Drugstore in Warsaw. He moved to Fort Wayne in the early ’60s, working at Lutheran Hospital and Brooklyn Apothecary. Most recently, for 15 years, he was the proprietary of People’s Drug, Monroeville, retiring in August 2004. Dean was a people person and his compassion was his customers. He enjoyed antiques and his backyard was his sanctuary.
He is survived by a brother, Dee-Jay (Joyce) Harris, Pierceton; sisters, Nancy (Douglas) Walls, Pierceton; Joan (Robert) Beineke, Leo; and three nephews and three nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard L. Harris in 2004; his partner, Rick Albrans in 2012.
There will be no visitation or service at this time.
