As of Tuesday afternoon, 61 staff and two residents are positive for the virus, according to Rod Craft, Peabody’s executive director.
More than 350 people are employed at the North Manchester retirement community that offers services ranging from independent living to skilled nursing health care.
Peabody, at 400 W. Seventh St., began testing all of its employees April 21. The 61 people who tested positive are self-isolating at home, Craft said.
On April 29, Peabody began testing its 273 residents. The residents have to consent to the testing, Craft said.
The two residents who have tested positive were both asymptomatic, Craft said, and they are being housed in a dedicated, isolated and contained unit for treatment.
“Peabody will engage in deep cleaning and sanitization processes for their rooms,” Craft said. “We will continue to report resident results as we have that information.”
Craft said that he expects more results in by the end of the week.
“The majority of our employee testing is complete, but there will be continuing tests for those who work intermittently, new hires and others,” he said. “Employees have been provided proper personal protective equipment, according to CDC guidelines, and are screened daily by answering a questionnaire, receiving temperature checks and conducting pulse oximeter readings.”
Craft said Peabody chose to proactively test all of its employees and residents in order to help gather information to make decisions to protect the health and safety of the community moving foward.
