NORTH MANCHESTER – Helen S. Drudge, 96, North Manchester, died at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2020, at  Peabody Healthcare Center, North Manchester.

She was born July 30, 1923, in Wabash County, to Paul and Wilgerdia Kissinger Sittler.

She married Frank E. Drudge on Sept. 27, 1942. He passed away April 29, 2013.

Helen worked as a secretary for Zimmer Manufacturing Company, Warsaw, for 20-plus years. She was a member of United Methodist Church, Silver Lake and United Methodist Church, North Manchester.

She graduated from Silver Lake High School in 1941. She grew up and lived most of her life in Silver Lake, then moved to Venice, Fla., for 25 years before moving to Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, to be closer to family. Helen radiated a kindness that was infectious to others. She was a salt of the earth person with a soft-spoken personality and a well-dressed fashion. She and her husband enjoyed traveling the world together. She also enjoyed playing Dominoes with family and friends. For women that grew up in the 1950s and later, she was a role model for her independent personality and her desire to work outside the home.

She is survived by son Michael (Carole “Gus” Grinstead) Drudge, Sylvania, Ohio; brother, Tom (Patty) Sittler, Silver Lake; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Ellen) Drudge, Geyserville, Calif.; Derek Drudge, Mesa, Ariz; stepgrandchildren, Nick (Lisa) Grinstead, Sweden; Lindsay Grinstead, Madison, Wis.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one daughter-in-law, Mary K. Drudge, who passed away in 2004.

Helen’s calling and funeral will be at a later date. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Myrtle Glen Drive, Silver Lake.

The family has entrusted McKee Mortuary with final arrangements.
